Editor’s Note: Trish Lemke is the founder of Joy Rides. She leads horse riding excursions around the world and is a certified Martha Beck life coach. Lemke lives in Durango, Colorado, with her family and horses. She is part of Camp Cayuse, a program in development. This year, Lemke is adding trips in the southwest US, along with treks to Scotland and Italy.
Lemke writes:
While I’m excited about trips this year to Scotland and Tuscany, the southwest US is incredibly diverse and just as epic. In fact, when I travel to New Mexico, amidst the adobe houses and sun-baked small towns, it feels like I am in a completely different country and culture.
So, here are some adventures closer to home. They are a mixture of workshops, retreats and riding adventures. I know you’re itching to travel, but you may be feeling a bit reluctant about going overseas. These experiences are all designed to help you refresh, rejuvenate and have a complete blast. Let me know if there’s one that’s calling you!
Imagine waking up to blue corn pinon pancakes, bringing your cup of tea out to the patio and looking over the wide expanses of the high desert. Envision riding your trusty horse partner under a bluebird sky, through red rock canyons and river valleys full of massive, ancient Cottonwood trees. Taste the green chili chicken stew and prickly pear margaritas and feel yourself relaxing in a hot tub under the stars after a full day of being in the New Mexico wilderness. If you want a reset mixed with some culture and exploration, this is a great trip for that!
Are you feeling the pull of the mountains and craving the chance to unplug from the stress and the hectic lifestyle? Do you long for a deep connection, solitude and peace that only wide open spaces can give you? Imagine being deep in the mountains, surrounded by wilderness and riding your steady trail horse to magical and serene places. If you want a total refresh, this one is for you!
Animal Communication and Equine Guided Coaching Retreat
If you’re ready to meet or better get to know your animal spirit guides and helpers, this retreat is designed for you. We will listen to what the horses are trying to tell us and access our inner wisdom with their help. The details of the retreat are still in the design phase, but it will be offered in Durango in the 2nd week of June. Let me know if you want to be on the “first to know” list for more information!
If you’re local, this is a great chance to come to the barn on Tuesdays evening in May and bask in the presence of my lovely horse partners. Taking time for yourself is one of the best ways to have fun, connect in person, and experience a weekly reset and rejuvenation. The horses help you laugh, breathe and bring lightness into your days. I only have four spots total for this class and it does fill up, so let me know soon if you want to join in the fun.
Individual Sessions and Equine Coaching
If you like a more private experience or 1:1 time with me and the horses, I have a couple of spots opening up in Spring for individual equine sessions. Days and times are flexible, so let me know if you’re interested and we can find a time together that works.
Wow, it seems like I have an exciting Spring and Summer ahead. I would love for you to join me for one of my adventures!
