The not-yet-full moon
Is already throwing shadows
While Venus hovers nearby
Distant suns reveal themselves
The horses bury their noses into dinner
I can hear the deer browsing
On fall foliage just behind me
Peace settles into my core
The house glows it’s welcome light
And I count my many blessings
As the night shift arrives
And the owl clears its throat
To welcome the night

I Love this– thank you. The owl ‘clearing its throat’ is a lovely expression of gratitude.
