Fully Vested

LL Bean PrimaLoft Packaway Vest

Vests are simple and simply essential elements of a rider’s wardrobe. They don’t take up much room, but can nonetheless make the difference between being happy and ready when the weather turns OR being underdressed/cold or overdressed/pouty.

I’ve been wearing LL Bean’s PrimaLoft Packaway Vest and am completely pleased with its new position as a wardrobe staple. While other tops circulate on and off my coat rack, the vest is now always there (or on me).

It’s been cozy as an extra layer after a shirt and before a jacket. And it’s been solid as the last layer on a cool, sunny Colorado Mother’s Day ride.

Pros:

Pockets are huge, but don’t look huge. All four of them are zippered.

Tailored look and fit

Falls at the hips (slightly longer in the torso than many vests)

Packs easily in a saddle bag

Available colors are lovely. I particularly like the Dark Marine Blue.

It’s easy to care for and holds up to many washings.

Shell and lining is 100 percent recycled.

Cons:

I usually fit into a small or medium. This vest in a small was still too big. I’m 5’7”, 130 and a extra small was the right size. Order down.
